Co-Founder of CANVA
Cliff Obrecht is the cofounder and COO at Canva, one of Australia’s fastest growing tech startups.
After graduating from the University of Western Australia with an Arts/Education degree, it didn’t take Cliff long to get into the business world starting his first company Fusion Yearbooks with co-founder Melanie Perkins when he was 20. Cliff juggled relief teaching at a local high school in Perth while building the company into the largest school yearbook company in Australia and expanding it internationally.
In 2013, Cliff and Melanie co-founded Canva. Since its inception Canva has grown to more than 10 million users in 179 countries and a team of more than 150 people across two offices. With Melanie he has raised over $US42 million in funding from top US and Australian investors such as Matrix Partners, Felicis Ventures & Blackbird alongside Hollywood celebrities Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson.
Canva is now growing by 50,000 users every day and Cliff believes Canva is getting started.
